This page is JUST for posting all the resources that I've been so lucky to find and experience. I have vetted all the resources on this page so I can personally attest to the methods and teachers.
I want to say that I have been blessed to have stumbled upon all the resources that I have, and I know that so many people need to be resourced in all the different ways available.
In Fall 2019 I started doing a course with Jessica Schaffer, who I met in 2014 when I was going through a major life transition. At the time she was doing TRE (Trauma Release Exercises) and at the time, I was very impressed by her knowledge and the way she worked with me. Th TRE system was ok, but I was not 'feeling' it so much, or I found that other resources were supporting me more effectively. I did however continue to follow Jessica on her journey, circling back around in Sept 2019 to an introductory course in the Nervous System RESET framework.
After having studied the Nervous System RESET framework for the last 7 months (and ongoing) I see how all the resources that I've been so lucky to have been exposed to, all CAN have a profound affect on the Nervous System. What I know from studying and working to embody this framework, each individual responds differently to the tools available. SO, if something doesn't work for you it's just not for you. There is no one magic bullet, although some will try to convince you otherwise. Some will say Mindfulness Meditation is for EVERYONE, and that is simply a load of crap. Meditation can be very triggering when one is in trauma response. Deep breathing can also raise the heart rate if the emphasis is on the in-breath.
SO, see what you are drawn to. If you need support, reach out.
Love,
Janis

Sing Portland
Singing is a fantastic way to stimulate the Ventral Vagus - also highly recommended for depression, releasing Oxytocin, creating new neuro-pathways, balancing the immune response.

I signed up for Sing Portland in the Summer of 2017 - has completely transformed my life. The director is an incredible human being, she makes it all so much fun! No experience needed, just a love of music... |
